Video emerges of the moments before chaos erupts in Melbourne CBD, killing three.

Footage has emerged on social media of a burgundy sedan doing burn-outs moments before the Bourke St chaos erupted in Melbourne, killing at least three people and injuring 20.

The car can be seen holding up traffic at the intersection of Swanston St and Flinders St in Melbourne’s CBD, directly outside Flinders Street Station.

Cars at both sides of the intersection can be seen sitting at the traffic lights, while pedestrians kept their distance as the driver performed continuous burn-outs.

Acting Commander Stuart Bateson later confirmed the rogue driver had been doing “some doughnuts at Flinders St and Swanston St”.

“(He then) turned left into the Bourke Street Mall and deliberately drove into the crowd, continued along the footpath colliding with further pedestrians,”he said.

Witnesses described seeing the car driving at considerable speed and recklessly in the area, before screaming out the window and driving up Swanston St.

Italian tourist Stefano Pavan told the Herald Sun there was loud music blaring from his car.

“People were screaming because he was just going crazy,” he said. “But it was like he was waiting for the police.”
