#BootsOff: Campaign protesting against women's AFL pay proposal kicks off

AFL fans have posted photos of their shoeless feet on social media to protest against the sport’s pay proposal for female players, which does not include boots.

The first-ever women’s AFL draft kicks off today, but the #BootsOff for fair pay campaign said their pay proposal is “terrible”.

“$5,000 for five months work, no boots and no health insurance is not enough for the players to make the new league as good as it can be,” the campaign posted on its Facebook page.

“The Players Association is still negotiating with the AFL about the pay for their female players.

“This means we have a chance to tell AFL boss Gill McLachlan he needs to increase his offer.”
