Finding a holy grail foundation when you have combination skin can be a bit of a balancing act.

You typically need something that won't slide off your oily T-zone by lunch, yet won't cling to dry patches or settle into fine lines.

As a combination skin haver, she's spent years filtering through the most hyped products on the beauty market to find formulas that actually perform.

From a budget-friendly staple to a travel-friendly CC cream, Leigh shared three of her current favourite foundations for combination skin on a recent episode of You Beauty.

1. Make Up Forever HD Skin Foundation, $74.

Fast facts:

• This foundation delivers buildable, medium to full coverage with an ultra-natural finish.

• Comes in 40 shades and is ideal for normal, combination or oily skin types.

• Designed to correct and blur imperfections for up to 24 hours.

• The formula is waterproof, sweat-proof, and mask-friendly.

Why Leigh rates it:

"This just feels like a second skin. It's long-wearing, but not drying — I find as a combo person, my dry bits are really dry, so it's quite hard to find the right balance."

2. Morphe Lightform Extended Hydration Foundation, $35.

Fast facts:

• A weightless, long-wearing formula that promises to 'diffuse imperfections instantly with undetectable, buildable medium coverage'.

• The formula contains a HydroRelief Complex that works to improve and maintain the skin's moisture balance over time.

• Does not contain any fragrance, parabens, or sulphates, and comes in 36 shades.

Why Leigh rates it:

"The 'extended' part of this name means 'long wear', but it's not drying because of the hydration. This foundation is medium coverage, long-wearing and dewy, but not too greasy. And it's 35 bucks, bargain."

3. Chi Chi Super CC Cream, $42.95.

Fast facts:

• A lightweight medium-to-full coverage foundation for a natural, dewy finish.

• Similar to the famous IT Cosmetics CC Cream, but with less coverage and more hydrating ingredients.

• Only comes in 11 shades, and contains SPF 15 — always wear a primary sunscreen underneath any SPF makeup, though!

Why Leigh rates it:

"I always go back to this, because it is so good. It's I got mine at Myer. This product is thick, sits nicely under the eyes, doesn't sting or crease, and you can get really good coverage. But you can also just apply less or sheer it out with a serum to get more of a wash of colour."
