Last year, I wrote about a fashion experiment, where I wore the same specific pair of sandals every day for a month.
ICYMI, here's a recap.
It all started when I picked the sandals up online and started wearing them everywhere (and getting lots of compliments).
I also love a fashion challenge, so I gave myself one: wear them every day for a month to see how many different outfit combinations I could make — and whether anyone would notice.
So I did and nobody noticed. They're so versatile.
By this point, it was as if the sandals had taken over my entire wardrobe.
Soon after, the sandals went viral. It seemed they could not stay on the shelf without continually selling out and needing to be restocked. And for good reason.
Watch: Speaking of shoes… here's what the Mamamia office is wearing right now. Post continues below.
The sandals in question are the AERE Crossover Footbed Sandals with a linen finish, which at full price retail for around $140. As I'm writing this, they're on sale for $70 (bargain).
The crossover style was new to me.
I used to be stuck in a millennial mule slides vortex, but I haven't looked back since.
For work, I paired them with mini dresses, jeans and monochromatic outfits.
At home, they go with everything from a weekend throw-on-and-go dress to leggings and a singlet on your way to yoga.

They can be both dressy and casual. And as a wide-foot girly, they are comfortable and mask the fact that I have broad feet.
And at just $70, I've proven Carrie Bradshaw wrong after all. You don't need to be "the woman who lived in her shoes".

Since my little experiment, these sandals have literally travelled the world with me. They've trekked across Greece, standing up to long walks on cobblestones and beach days alike.
They've journeyed to the tropical paradise of Vanuatu, where they proved themselves as the perfect travel companion – equally at home paired with a dressy dress for evening dinners as they are chucked on with cut-off shorts for beach adventures.
They've also explored the vibrant streets and stunning beaches of Bali, adapting seamlessly from Bintangs in beach bars to sunset cocktails.
It's safe to say, they've stood the test of time.

You can find my exact pair here.
And, as an act of community service, I have searched far and wide and found my cross-over sandals' sisters and cousins, which, as I have proven, go with absolutely everything and can be worn day in and day out.
I found their non-identical twin (in leather):
The Iconic Crossover Leather Footbed by Aere in black, $150.
I found their triplet (in off-white, which I now realise I need to get):
Aere Linen Crossover Sandals, $140.

And a bunch more from different brands to cater to any cross-over sandals taste.
