Editor's Pick: Best toys to suit any budget this Christmas.

Toys R Us
Thanks to our brand partner, Toys R Us

Every Christmas I vow to get the shopping done early. To have my list ready and to cross it all off by the end of November, leaving December free to relax and binge on Netflix spend quality time with my family.

And every November I find myself in a complete flap having no idea what to buy and leaving it till the very last minute in December when I inevitably miss out on the very toy my kids want, and spend far too much on other ones.

This year I am going to do things differently.

This year I already have a list. I’ve sussed out the very best toys on offer for every price range and found myself a list my kids will fall over themselves in excitement for on Christmas morning.

This is a list even Santa can’t top:

$50.00 and under.

Ooshies: $19.99

Ooshies are one of those toys that every kid, no matter the age wants, and parents just don’t get.

But you know what? It’s not about us.

The MV Marvel Ooshies, the Justice League Ooshies and the TMNT Ooshies come in packs of seven and at just $19.99 your Ooshie fan will be thrilled when they pull them out of their stocking.

Still don’t get these little pencil topper, tiny bouncy rubber minifigures? You aren’t meant to. But your kids will.

Hot Wheels Criss Cross crash set: $49.99

My kids saw this in Toys ‘R’ Us the other day and were hooked – and it wasn’t just my boys, my five-year-old daughter says its “super cool” and she “needs Santa to bring it.”

“It loops and loops Mama,” my daughter tells me.

At $49.99 the Hot Wheels Criss Cross Crash track is high speed action on a vertical track. It has four intersecting crash zones and a car feeder ramp so your kids can line up their Hot Wheels cars and go crazy with near misses or total wipeouts. With more than four metres of track including a giant crash zone even the smallest of motor heads will be entertained for hours.

Pie Face Showdown Board Game: $49.99

Kids love board games and nine-year-olds love anything that makes them laugh that’s why my nine-year-old son is desperate for this.

The Pie Face Showdown Board Game is something the whole family can play together -  just be ready to be creamed. (Don’t worry it’s not as messy as it sounds.)

How it works is first players load the arm with whipped cream or the included sponge. Then each player places their chin on one of the chin rests and at the count of three, rapidly mashes the button nearest to them, which activates the hand on the throwing arm. The suspense builds as players try to get the arm to move toward their opponent, and when it gets too close to the pie thrower, it'll spring up, and that player will get creamed! The player who doesn't get "pie-faced" wins.

Though secretly all the kids want to get creamed.

The crane arm lifts and rotates and stands at an amazing 121 cm tall – about the same height as my five-year-old. At $49.99 it’s an affordable toy to top your kid’s Santa list.

She is the perfect doll to feed a bottle, change her clothes, put her to bed and take her with each day on an outing.
