If there's one thing you're bound to see in the California desert this time of year, it's celebrities. Loads of them.

The A-list flocked to Coachella for weekend one of the massive music event, attending various brand activations and singing along to Justin Bieber while wearing their interpretations of festival fashion.

While many lean hard into the boho vibe, Kendall Jenner is always one to buck the trend.

Fix my outfit! | Nothing To Wear

Hosting an event for her tequila brand, the model teamed a white cropped tank and matching denim shorts with a pair of sleek black riding boots from Anne Demeulemeester — a shoe choice that's decidedly more modern than the slouchy, fringed styles we're used to seeing.

As a self-confessed horse girl, a riding boot makes sense for the model — the style gets its name from horseriding boots of the 10th century, which were designed to protect the wearer's calves from chafing against stiff saddles.

While the style has evolved to encompass different heel heights and toe shapes, the traditional riding boot is minimal and streamlined — a classic option you can pull on with everything from dresses to Bermuda shorts, or style over slim-cut jeans.

Elsewhere at Coachella weekend one, podcaster and TikToker Alix Earle put her own spin on the footwear trend in a pair of calf-length black boots by Sydney brand Bared Footwear.

The "Hillstar" boots feature a removable silver buckle around the ankle, giving them more of a moto edge.

Lila Moss, daughter of Kate Moss, was seen wearing a similar buckled pair with tiny red shorts while attending the festival. Another It-girl, another pair of cool black boots. You know what they say — three's a trend.

Now, not to brag, but I called this one early.

On a recent episode of our fashion podcast Nothing To Wear, I predicted that black calf-length boots would be the next cool-girl shoe.

It was an evidence-based theory, after Margot Robbie was seen wearing a luxe $3,300 pair from cult New York brand Khaite to a movie premiere in LA.

Styling them with a strapless black minidress from Australian brand With Jéan, her calf-length shoe felt like a choice.

Since they first hit my radar, I'm seeing the style all over my social feeds and I'm now actively in the market for a pair for winter.
