Angry fans say the Australia's Next Top Model finale scoring system allowed the judges to rig the result.

Oh dear.

As with almost every reality TV finale in the history of reality TV finales, it seems viewers are a little bit peeved about the way FOX8’s Australia’s Next Top Model panned out on Tuesday night.

After a jam-packed season of anxiety attacks, dizzy spells and nasty comments about Alex Perry’s lips (yes, really), we finally reached the final episode. The last two standing? New South Wales teenagers Aleyna, 16, and Sabine, 17.

While judges assured the girls they would be judged on their Elle Magazine cover photos alone, irrespective of their performance in the nine weeks prior, some argue it didn’t exactly work out that way.

After each "Modern Princess" themed photo was revealed, judges would announce their scores one by one. Curiously, the scores weren't written down on a card, or shown on a screen. They were simply announced in real-time - giving the final judge the ultimate power to determine the result.

Enter: Alex Perry.

Sabine's photo was the first to be scored, receiving a 9.5/10 from both fashion designer Perry and host Jennifer Hawkins, and a perfect 10/10 from model Megan Gale.

Then came Aleyna.

A 9.5/10 from Gale and a flawless 10 from Hawkins left the competition's winner in the hands of Perry, who, after a lengthy and suspense-building pause, announced he was awarding Aleyna's photo a 10, making her the winner by a measly margin of 0.5 points.

Despite this, fans insist Sabine's shot was the better of the two.

"Sorry, but Sabine's photos were better on this occasion, but I guess the judges gave it to who they wanted," an angry fan commented on the show's Facebook page to an overwhelming response.

Many, many others agreed with her, adding: "They literally said the slate was wiped clean and it was this picture that would decide the outcome. I love them both but Sabines picture tonight was better in my opinion and it fit the brief better also. [sic]"

"Sabine was robbed," wrote a third person. "Aleyna looks beautiful but Sabines photo was perfect in every sense, not just her face. [sic]"

Others, like commenter Laura, put forward a conspiracy theory that the show's winner is decided by powerful figures at Elle, not the judges.

"SABINE will go much further.. I think ultimately the people from Elle choose the winner. It's all smoke and mirrors. I think they should let the public decide the winner."

Though not all fans agreed that Sabine was the rightful winner.

"[Aleyna] was an obvious front-runner from the beginning," one viewer hit back. "The winner should be chosen based on her whole performance, not just one picture. The right girl won! Can't wait to see her career develop."

What do you think about Aleyna winning Australia's Next Top Model?
