After permanently damaging her scalp and thinning her hair significantly, Rebecca Brown recently decided to shave her hair on camera and post the video to the world.
Brown, 23, suffers from trichotillomania, an incredibly complex disorder in which people pull hairs from all areas of their body.
In the emotional video, the young woman from Essex explains that she’s “fed up of being triggered and tortured by the hair on my head, and I don’t really feel I have any other option.”
It’s just one video among many that catalogue her struggle with the condition, and provides a valuable snapshot into the condition that effects 2-4% of the population.
