Married At First Sight's "villain" Anthony on what's really going on behind the scenes.

“Anyone who watches those reality shows and thinks they are real must still believe in the tooth fairy,” Married at First Sight contestant Anthony Manton said in an interview with his TAB radio colleagues yesterday.

According to Confidential, the 33-year-old race caller said the Channel 9 reality TV show was heavily edited to portray him as the “villain”.

“I know I haven’t been portrayed in the best possible light. There’s so much stuff that is edited out,” Manton said. On the show, he is ‘married’ to flight attendant Nadia Stamp, 36.

“There needs to be a villain in these shows, and I happen to be it on Married At First Sight,” he continued.

Manton gave an example using the most-recent episode.

“Last night’s episode we had home-stays and Nadia and myself spent four days in my apartment in Sydney," he said.

“We went to the races in that time, we had dinner with friends and family during that time, we cooked for each other, we had some great moments — and what do they play? Me blowing up about my Wi-Fi connection," he continued.

“In four days that’s all they play, a 30 second clip. That’s a great example of how heavily edited these shows are.”

It's difficult not to wonder what Manton imagined he might be getting himself into...

He said he chose to go on the fourth season of this strange, wonderful, televised social experiment, because he found he had limited opportunity to meet women.
