How to do Kim Kardashian West's double braids.

Before she shocked everyone with her platinum blonde wig at husband Kanye West’s Yeezy show last week, Kim Kardashian West was keeping things pretty low-key with her hair and doing something almost unheard of for the Kardashians – wearing the same thing on multiple occasions.

Her style of choice? A double dutch braid, which keeps hair up and off the face and looks preeeetty fancy.

While it looks very detailed, it’s actually a pretty easy braid to master. It’s also most excellent for getting through those ‘I-didn’t-have-time-to-wash-my-hair’ days. Here’s how it’s done.

Watch: A step by step guide to dutch braids. (Post continues after video.)

Double dutch braids

Step 1: Brush hair, eliminating any knots.

Step 2: Comb hair into a centre part all the way down to the nape of the neck. Clip away one side of hair.

Step 3: Take a small section at the front, right by the part and split into three sections. Take the piece closest to the part and move it under the middle section. Repeat with the outer piece.

This braiding technique is exactly the same as a normal plaiting technique, except instead of moving the piece over the top, you move it under. This is what gives it the inside-out braid effect.

Step 4: With each braiding movement, incorporate a small section of more hair from the same side as the initial strand.

Step 5: Keep on doing this until you reach the nape of your neck, then pull braid under your ear to the front and continue to braid. Secure with a hair tie.

Step 6: Repeat on other side.

Step 7: Hairspray to secure or pull out a few loose strands at the front as desired. Optional: Show off your handiwork with a Kimmy K-approved selfie.
