Kardashians tell Khloe: 'Get out of the hospital, and go to the gym.'

Anyone who has nursed a loved one through illness knows hospitals can be awful places.

They will also know leaving them – and the patient – behind to go about your daily life seems an impossible task.

So for Khloe Kardashian, her family’s instructions to “get out of the hospital for an hour, and go to the gym” was an unexpected blessing.

“Just recently I’ve been in the hospital for almost three-and-a-half weeks straight,” Khloe told the San Diego Union Tribune newspaper.  “And finally everyone was saying, ‘Khloé, you have to get out of the hospital and just for an hour, go to the gym and do something that’s for you. Nothing’s going to happen to Lamar.’ ”

Khloe and Lamar married in September of 2009.

Khloe and Lamar are separated but not divorced, and Khloe has been maintaining a daily bedside vigil, ditching her usual schedule of working out and working, particularly promoting her book, ‘Strong Looks Better Naked’.

“I had such anxiety going to the gym, but as soon as I left, and Kendall and I worked out with my trainer, I felt like ‘Oh my God, I’m OK. I’m a human again! I just felt so good. But for those three-and-a-half weeks, I didn’t think about the gym because I was thinking about other things, and I don’t beat myself up about it.”

Lamar is reported to remain in a critical condition with a high possibility of long-term liver and brain damage. He is still struggling to recognise loved ones and family, walk on his own, and is on full-time dialysis.
