If Instagram makes you feel bad, you're following the wrong accounts.

You know the feeling.

If the pending new year has you vowing to quit Instagram…

STOP RIGHT THERE.

It might just be that you’re following the wrong people.   Women no longer need to flip through a glossy magazine and see Miranda Kerr’s genetic perfection to feel bad about themselves. Low self-esteem is now just a scroll away.

Studies show that these images set unachievable standards that are getting us down. The more time we spend on social media, the more we compare, the worse we feel about ourselves.   So, make like Mia Freedman does.  If the Instagram bikini babes make you feel shit, unfollow them. Babes, be gone. The Mamamia Outloud podcast asked for your top female ‘grammers with something to say, and you came through. So why not follow some of these wonderful women instead? We promise they wont trade legs for likes.
