Simple ways to turn your economy flight into a first class experience.

There is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable during a long flight.

Maybe it’s your seat, maybe it’s the person next to you or maybe it’s both (it’s probably both).

The option to shell out thousands to fly first class or business is one way to get around those long-flight blues, but for most of us it’s not a realistic plan.

Never fear! Just because you’re flying economy doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy first class levels of comfort.

Here are just a few tricks:

  1. Pack a hoodie. The hoodie is a versatile item that can hide your weird sleeping face and be folded into a soft pillow.
  2. If you pee a lot (me) and are too socially awkward to ask the person sitting next to you to stand up (me, again), organise to sit on the aisle and enjoy emotional and physical relief.
  3. Stay awake the night before you leave so you’re tired enough to snooze from Sydney to Singapore.

Studies have even proven that flying can make you more emotional, so maybe steer clear of any in-flight viewings of The Fault In Our Stars or marathons of The Notebook.

Consider yourself warned, prepared and comfortable on your next trip.
