The three bad eyebrow habits a brow artist wishes you'd give up. Right now.

A woman’s relationship with her eyebrows is a complex one. Over-pluck and you’ll look like Drew Barrymore in the 90s; abandon brow grooming altogether and you might find yourself in Oscar The Grouch territory.

In the interests of keeping your eyebrow game strong, we spoke to one of Australia’s leading brow experts, Sharon Lee Hamilton, to find out exactly what you need to do… or in this case, not do.

Sharon says there are three bad brow habits women need to give up immediately. Ultimately, it’s time we stopped taking matters into our own hands.

1. Cutting your brow hair with scissors.

The Sydney-based brow expert says using scissors to trim your eyebrows is a big no-no.

"Trimmed hair LOOKS like trimmed hair. It makes a brow more masculine and is often done out of frustration with hair that straggles instead of lying flat," she explains.

At Sharon Lee Inc., the brow artists use a 'Snap and Tear' method in conjunction with a process called Tame to groom brow hairs.

"[This] involves a light chemical to make the hair lay flat and in line with the rest of the brow," Sharon adds.

"Either way, stop trimming."

2. Getting too tweezer-happy.

Sharon also warns against over-tweezing, explaining this is NEVER a good idea.

"It's better to have too much hair than not enough," she says.

"People just don’t seem to truly understand that the hair is likely to not return, or will return with a different direction of growth." (Post continues after gallery.)

3. Attempting to bleach your eyebrows at home.

Unless you want carrot-coloured brows, that is.

"We have clients arrive with orange brows. BRIGHT ORANGE. Add to this the hair texture is changed and far more porous," Sharon says.

"It’s a real process to tone it back down. The hair often comes back almost tiger stripy, a mix of your own colour and the bleached hair colour."

OK, Australia — you've been warned.
