Upholding the law is a weighty responsibility.

There’s little room for lightheartedness in the solemn sphere of court.

So when one Jessie Braham sued popstar Taylor Swift for stealing lyrics, Los Angeles Judge Gail Standish saw that her moment for a playful judgement, one that would show the world how truly jovial she is, had come.

Braham had claimed that 92 per cent of Taylor Swift’s massive hit Shake It Off had been nicked from his song Haters Gone Hate.

“At present, the Court is not saying that Braham can never, ever, ever get his case back in court,” Standish began her judgement.

Swift’s lyrics are as follows: “Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play. And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate,” and, “And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake.”

Braham’s go: “Haters gone hate, playas gone play. Watch out for them fakers, they’ll fake you every day.”

He was seeking $42 million plus a songwriter credit.

As though he were the first to observe that players, they play, and haters? They hate. Don’t even start with the fakers.
