This video shows why some celebrities are out of control

Being famous is not normal. Neither is making a living from being photographed. It’s a very strange world where other people have a vested interest in blowing smoke up your arse and making you believe you transcend all basic standards of human behaviour and decency.

Not that all celebrities or models are jerks. But watching this video of what happens on a shoot when Lindsay Lohan turns up 11 HOURS LATE, costing organisers more than US$100K in overtime bills for the crew, location etc……well, you get a sense of why Lindsay was a bit shocked when the judge was, like, MEAN to her in court and sentenced her to jail.

Lindsay Lohan, 11hrs late

If you can’t be bothered to watch, I’ll describe it for you: Lindsay arrives 11 hours late to the shoot and the crew and photographer proceed to tell her how ‘fabulous’, ‘amazing’ and ‘talented’ she is. Also ‘hot’, ‘sexy’ and ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’.

Nobody says “Why were you late and what makes you think you have the right to keep dozens of people waiting?”

I understand completely why this is. I have been on many shoots. They are mind-numbingly boring no matter who you’re shooting. And the most important thing, is that the subject of the shoot is happy. The reason nobody says anything to LIndsay when she finally rocks up is that she has the power. If she has a tanty and flounces off or chooses to scowl or not wear the clothes….well, the shoot is ruined. Even more than it is by being done at midnight instead of midday as it was scheduled to be.

So. In summary, celebrity is a very surreal existance. Famous people, surrounded by sycophants who have vested interests in keeping them happy, can quickly lose touch with reality. And it’s clear to me that’s what has happened to La Lohan.

And, quite possibly, Mel Gibson.
