“I’m no fan of Rove…”
Kyle Sandilands and Rove McManus are going to be in competition for radio listeners, as Rove has just been announced as the new host of the 2Day FM breakfast show (replacing Dan and Maz in 2016).
There’s no reason why two competitors can’t get along, right? It require collegiality, professional respect, dignity and respect, right? Er. No. Apparently Kyle has never liked Rove. And they’re never, ever ever getting back together. Sandilands told News.com.au:
Off the cuff and edgy? Please read: sex questions, poo jokes and public humiliation. Maybe the occasional script wouldn’t go astray? (To be fair, it’s working for them. And the previous PM Tony Abbott went on their show more times than he spoke to women’s media, so Well Played, Sir…) Sandilands continued, throwing some shade on former employers Southern Cross Austereo too:
Don’t go changin’, Sandilands. Jackie O agreed that she didn’t think that Rove would have what it takes, because he used to have a massively high-rating show on the telly with endless celebrity guests (as well as a successful tv empire): “It’s one thing when you’ve got all week to do one TV show and put in all your resources, but doing a radio show every single day and filling it with new content, it is harder,” Jackie O said.
Congrats on these two legends for taking out the radio award for best on air team! #ACRAS2015 #KJshow A photo posted by Kyle and Jackie O (@kyleandjackieo) on
According to News Limited, the feud between Kyle and Rove arose because Rove didn’t like songs released by Kyle’s ex-wife Tamara. And Rove was apparently rude to the couple on another occasion. Kyle says that Rove is definitely not a cool dude. “Everyone thinks he’s cookies and cream when he’s a little prick… He’s a little a**hole.”
There you have it. Kyle doesn’t like Rove. Luckily, Rove has three Gold Logies for Most Popular TV Personality to snuggle with. The love of the rest of Australia will probably keep him warm against the threat of Kyle’s icy blast.
As far as Rove is concerned, the hate is all one way. In 2011, Rove said, “I have no feelings for him either way.”
In short: two blokes, who get paid quite a bit of money to crack jokes on the radio, don’t like each other much.
Possible solution? PUT MORE WOMEN ON THE RADIO.
