It seems that Benedict is a fan of alliteration.

You may recall that charming actor and impeccably posh human being Benedict Cumberbatch had a baby boy in June. Three months later, Benedict and his wife, Sophie Hunter, have announced their baby’s name. And it’s about as dapper as we were expecting.

Introducing… Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch, owner of the world’s second fanciest name (couldn’t beat his dad) and child to some brilliant parents.

As for why Carlton was chosen as the middle name, apparently it’s not because Benedict is a huge fan of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

“Carlton is a family middle name that has been passed down, shared by both the actor, his father and now the new addition,” People report.

May you go forth and live up to the posh expectations that the world has already placed upon you.

A representative of the couple said that they were “delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son”. Very beautiful, we can guess. Handsome. Dapper, even.

It has been a busy 12 months for Cumberbatch. Earlier this week, he was named a recipient of a CBE (a.k.a. Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire), and in February, he married his fiance, Sophie. It was only in November last year when the couple publicised their engagement, none other than by a small announcement in a British Newspaper. Yes, true story.

The spokesperson for the couple also added, “We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.”

In 2013, Cumberbatch told Event Magazine, that he couldn’t wait to be a dad, “I would love to have children. I can’t wait to do an interview like this and just talk about my child.”
