Amy Schumer was asked to be the next Bachelorette. Her response was perfect.

Point. Missed.

US comedian Amy Schumer made a guest appearance on US The Bachelorette last week.

It was hilarious and must’ve been a ratings winner, because US network ABC extended Schumer an offer to be the next bachelorette herself.

Oh, ABC. You really missed the point there, guys.

Schumer pretty much shut The Bachelorette producers’ suggestion right on down all over social media when she posted this in response.

This season of US’s The Bachelorette has already been a massive disappointment. It’s supposed to turn the tables on The Bachelor – to let the girls pick and choose among the men, rather than the other way around.

However, it began with TWO bachelorettes and had the male suitors vote for the one they most wanted. Following on from that humiliation, the lucky winner of that popularity contest, Kaitlyn Bristowe, has been slut-shamed for sleeping with one of the men “too soon.”

So Amy Schumer’s appearance on the show was a breath of fresh air.

When Schumer appeared on the show, she was there to help bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe to judge the guys’ stand-up comedy routines and give them some comedy coaching.

“Sometimes I think that I’m like, too smart for 90 per cent of the audience,” the charming JJ told Schumer during their coaching session, after he’d pulled out some stale Seinfeld-plagiarized jokes and unfunny physical comedy.

“You’re not,” she informed him. “I hope it does comfort you that you’re not smarter than anybody here.”

“JJ’s a sweetheart,” she told the camera. “He’s just missing charisma and humility and a sense of humour.

“Maybe once he sees the show he’ll reflect on himself, and not be such a turd.”

Following her appearance on the show, Twitter blew up with suggestions Schumer herself be the next bachelorette with the hashtag #DraftAmy.

The show’s producers did nothing to hose down rumours that Schumer will take part.

But Schumer did.

The Bachelor gives one man a parade of stunningly beautiful, desperate-to-please women to choose from.

The Bachelorette purports to do the same thing for a woman, but really, the men dictate her behaviour, and she is heavily criticised if she doesn’t fall into line (see Kaitlyn Bristowe having sex when she wanted, above).

Schumer knows this – it’s the whole reason she appeared on the show. And why she’ll never be the bachelorette.
