Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe have announced their baby's birth in the loveliest of ways.

Actor Eddie Redmayne has become a father for the first time – just in time for the official British Father’s Day.

The couple, who revealed they were expecting a child together at the Golden Globe Awards in January this year, announced the birth the old fashioned way.

The Oscar winning actor, 34, and his PR executive wife Hannah Bagshawe, 33, placed an announcement in Britain’s The Times newspaper on Saturday announcing the birth of Iris Mary.

No Instagram poses or SnapChat selfies for this traditional couple.

In January Redmayne told ET that he and his wife had decided not to find out the baby’s sex, which had made it difficult to settle on a name.

“In the middle of the night last night — we arrived from London — at four in the morning we started mumbling names to each other,” he recalled.

“We’re two of the most indecisive people in the world!”

But they settled on Iris.

A spokeswoman for the couple told The Sun “I can confirm that Eddie and Hannah Redmayne have welcomed their first child.”

Redmayne had discussed how excited he was about becoming a father.

"It’s our first child, so obviously there’s a mixture of emotions," he said.

“Joy, excitement and a bit of fear. I can’t wait. I’ll be a hands-on dad."

Redmayne won the Academy Award for best actor for his transformation into the character of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.

The couple met while Eddie was at Eton College – alongside Prince William and Hannah Bagshawe attended nearby a college.

They had a 12-year-long friendship but that turned to love in 2012.

And in 2016 a baby daughter.

Congratulations on baby Iris.
