Sam Wood reveals the many, many steps it takes to be The Bachelor.

When it comes to working out, Sam Wood is not afraid of putting in the hard yards. But the 35-year-old fitness guru says applying for The Bachelor was not something he was prepared for.

Speaking to Jules Sebastian on the Tea With Jules web series, Wood explained the decision to apply for the 2015 series came after much pestering from a regular client at his gym.

“She was literally saying this for two years, ‘Sam you need to go on that show. Why are you still single?’ She was a lovely lady but she was quite persistent,” he said laughing, admitting he was quite skeptical about the whole thing.

But before a training session she took matters into her own hands, opening the web page for The Bachelor applications and set Wood to his application.

"I started applying, not realising it was such an in depth process," Wood said, continuing, "by the time she came down after an hour I was only about half way through the application because it was about 200 questions!"

Curious to know what they were asking, Wood explained to Sebastian that the questions were "a real insight into your psychology... I didn't really know what they were looking for and I sort of answered the questions being myself but I didn't realise it would be quite the process it was."

Wood then says he was contacted just one day after submitting his application, with a Sykpe interview taking place a week later, and a face-to-face panel interview the week following that.

Admitting that he never thought he would actually get it, Woods said he had approached it simply as an "interesting experience".

But when the phone call came to say he'd been selected, Wood had a big decision to make.

"They rang me about a week later and said, "you've been successful but you'll have to pack up your life and get someone in to run your business. You won't be able to contact people. You'll be trapped from the outside world for 13 weeks living in Sydney. And that all has to happen in 12 days, what do you think?" And I had 12 hours to make the decision."

Despite all the paperwork, things have clearly worked out well for Wood, who is happily engaged to Snezana Markoski and kicking career goals with his recently launched 28bySamWood.
