Woman pulled to ground by her hair in Canberra nightclub

Police are calling for witnesses to an assault at a Canberra nightclub where a woman was violently pulled to the ground by her hair by a man she had earlier rejected.

The incident occurred at the Cube Nightclub in the city in the early hours of 20 November.

Footage released by ACT police shows an unknown man approach the woman at the bar, where she rejects his physical advances.

Later when she returns to the bar, the man walks past her, yanking her to the ground by her hair.

Police said the man then left the club with three other men, before the woman altered security staff.

The man is Caucasian in appearance, 183 centimetres tall, with dark brown hair and a light beard.

He was wearing a blue/green checked shirt and knee length denim shorts.

Acting Station Sergeant Craig Faram said the women was not injured in the incident but was “obviously very shaken”.

“Personally any act of violence won’t be tolerated by police or the community,” he said.

“This particular act is what I would describe as very gutless and again anyone who can identify the offender in this matter we really urge them to come forward and speak to us.”
