She abused a 12-year-old boy and now she's given birth to his child.

A Melbourne woman is on trial for raping 12-year-old boy — who is also now the father of her child.

Trigger warning: This post contains details of child abuse and rape.

An awful child abuse case has been heard in a Victorian court this week, after a mother-of-three plead guilty to having a sexual relationship with a boy when he was just 12 years old.

The woman came to know the boy after he befriended her daughter. Both the children were then only 11 years old.

As the Crown Prosecutor told the court, it wasn’t long before the mother became jealous of her daughter’s new friendship — and began to pursue a more intimate relationship with the boy.

The woman would drive him to school — an outlet for her own rocky marriage.

She was friends with the boy’s mother who would sometimes pay her to babysit her son.

It was on one such occasion in 2012 the then 36-year-old first took advantage of the boy. He was just 12 years old.

According to The Age, the boy was depressed — his parents had just separated — and was described as vulnerable by the Crown Prosecutor.

The relationship continued for two years, over which period the victim and offender had sex more than 20 times.

The mother of the victim told the court on Wednesday that her son had lost his childhood. She said self-harmed and couldn’t go back to school. His life is ruined.

This was exacerbated in May last year, when the 39-year-old woman gave birth to the boy’s child, a daughter.

The victim’s mother was even in the delivery room with her friend when she gave birth — not knowing the little girl was actually her grandchild.

The offender, however, had no idea that a 12-year-old boy could even father a child. She thought he was too young.

Now, “embarrassed” and “guilt ridden”, the woman has pleaded guilty to persisten sexual abuse of a child and faces 25 years in prison.

The judge presiding over the case said it was “absolutely tragic” and the woman would certainly be imprisoned.

She will be sentenced next month.
