Proof that Obama has a career in comedy after he leaves the White House.

It’s the most hilarious night of the year. It’s not the Golden Globes, or the Oscars, or any other Hollywood event traditionally hosted by comedians to make it watchable for us mere mortals.

Nope, it’s the White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2014 edition. There was the time Jimmy Kimmel joined in. And that other time Daniel Day-Lewis had a cameo, and confused the hell out of everyone.

During his time as POTUS, Obama has proved that he is a particularly adept Leader of the Free World and Cracker of Jokes. He always speaks with just the right amount of self-deprecation and wit.

“I usually start these dinners with a few self-deprecating jokes, but after my stellar 2013 what could I possibly talk about?” Obama laughed, before conceding. “I admit it. Last year was rough. Sheesh! At one point things got so bad the 47 per cent called Mitt Romney to apologise.”

You can watch the rest below.

And although we have already established that the White House Correspondents’ Dinner isn’t the Oscars or the Golden Globes, there are still plenty of celebrities in fancy frocks. Here you go.

And now for the important questions: Does Obama have a career in comedy after he leaves the White House? What do you think?
