Eyeshadow for dummies. One product. 10 seconds

Before I had a baby, I was all about eyeshadow. My eyes are my favourite part of my face to play up – this is because my lips are thinner than Kate Moss after a three-day bender. But since I don’t have half an hour in the morning to expertly blend three different kinds of shadow anymore, I need something that can distract from my dark under eye bags, that’s fast to apply.

If I can smoosh it on with my fingers? Even better.

Enter Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance Champagne Nude Shimmer Eye Shadow Primer, $26.95. And yes, I realise that’s a crazy eight-word long product name, so I’m just going to refer to it as SICNSESP from now on. SICNSESP came across my desk last week (it’s available from 24th August) and as a fan of the non-shimmer version of this product I went straight about putting it on my eyelids. And I wasn’t disappointed.

If you haven’t used eye shadow primer before, it’s brilliant for preventing your eyeshadow from creasing or caking, and it creates the perfect base for cream and powder shadows – making even the cheapest of shadows last all day. But the thing I love most about SICNSESP is that even though it’s designed to be worn under eyeshadow to make your regular colours pop, its warm, shimmery glow looks great on its own.

It’s excellent for anyone over the age of 35 who wants to wear a bit of shimmer, without looking like they’ve just come from a blue light disco circa 1985. And it’s so easy to apply; just swipe it over your eyelids, and blend with your fingers. You can’t actually stuff this up – it’s foolproof.
