Ask Mia about…..Botox. Would you ever?

I know it’s been a while since I did an Ask Mia video. Here’s one I prepared earlier. Last week I asked the PM, Julia Gillard if she has ever had botox. If you missed it, you can read about that here and here.

Today, I answer an Ask Mia question on what I think about botox, teeth whitening and fake tan.

After I made this video I read this in the Daily Mail

Botox users have long been mocked for their inability to show emotion on their partially paralysed faces.

But new research suggests the anti-wrinkle jabs could also affect women’s ability to experience feelings in the first place.

In a study, those given the toxin injections experienced significantly less reaction to emotionally charged films than those who had not had the treatment.

The research reinforces the psychological theory that facial expressions can affect your mood, as well as being an indicator of it – so, for example, not being able to smile means you do not feel as happy.

And I smiled (and the bits around my eyes crinkled).

I’ve noticed that now when celebrities or other people are asked about ‘plastic surgery’, they neatly side-step the question by presuming it refers to scalpels. But in actual fact, fillers and botox are by far the most commonly performed ‘procedures’.

Do you consider Botox and injectibles to be cosmetic surgery? Have you? Could you? Would you do it?

[Please ask any other ‘Ask Mia’ questions below….I might even answer a few in the comments over the next few days….]
