Artwork made out of everyday objects that will make you smile.

Welcome to Mamamia’s art endeavour, the Voulez-Vous Project. Every week we celebrate emerging artists, designers, illustrators, creators and women who knit using their vaginas. (Kidding. Maybe.)

The aim: to make the internet a slightly more beautiful, captivating, or thought-provoking place. To find out more about the Voulez-Vous project, click here. Click here to see all the previous Voulez-Vous posts.

This week’s featured artist on the Voulez-Vous project is Domenic Bahmann, a Canberra-based artist, illustrator, photographer and designer. Domenic creates conceptual work and clever illustrations, that reimagine objects as sentient things and riff on pop culture and iconic figures.

If that doesn’t make sense, just take a look:

“My ideas have different origins,” Domenic explains. “Some of them develop over time and are workshopped through different stages, others are more spontaneous and a product of daydreaming. While it’s often difficult to find the time in a busy day to work on a creative idea, I set it as a challenge to think differently about the world and to find the fun in the everyday things around me.”

“My favourite sources of inspiration are places like a supermarket or our kitchen. Sometimes going for a walk or talking to friends can bring up some interesting ideas.”

If you would like to see some more of Domenic’s work (or even consider purchasing a piece!), you can visit his website, visit his online shop or follow him on Instagram.
