The UK election results are in.

David Cameron’s Conservatives are on track to claim victory over Labour as the results of the UK general election continue to flow in.

The Conservative Prime Minister looks set to remain at Downing Street in his second five-year term as Prime Minister with an expected narrow majority.

Around 48 million British voters cast their votes on Thursday in what was expected to be a tight election, with Mr Cameron and Leader of the Opposition Ed Miliband neck and neck in opinion polls in recent months.

One nation, one United Kingdom – that is how I hope to govern if I am fortunate enough to continue as Prime Minister.

Speculation Mr Miliband and Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg will resign is rife after both parties suffered huge losses.

 The Scottish National Party’s Mhairi Black, 20, ousted the Shadow Foreign Secretary Douglas Alexander and became the youngest Westminster MP in 300 years.

This has clearly been a very disappointing and difficult night for the Labour party. To every member and supporter, I want to say thank you.

Though many punters likely ignored the vote counting and instead waited for news of the outcome, some fully immersed themselves in the entire dramatic political affair.
