Months after giving birth blogger Tuula Vintage shares: "We're still living in hospital."

Three months on from giving birth to her first child, travel blogger Jessica Stein has opened to her 2.3 million fans about her rocky road to motherhood, saying, “I always knew it wouldn’t be easy for me to become a mother, but I never thought these first precious months would be so hard for her”.

Sharing the news of her pregnancy at the seven-month mark in February, Stein – who blogs under the moniker Tuula Vintage – explained the delayed announcement by telling followers, “I’ve always dreamed of being a mother, but never knew if I could be”.

She explained, “I experienced multiple pelvic and internal injuries after being hit by a car at 16 with ongoing pain and limitations, and was warned of what might never come to be. I’ve always wanted to adopt (as my incredible mum was) and my partner and I had been talking about it again just before this unexpected miracle happened”.

Upon reaching the 20-week mark, Stein, who suffered antenatal depression throughout the pregnancy said there was an issue with amniotic fluid leaking, and as such, bed rest had been ordered.

“I don’t know the words to describe how hopeless I felt,” she wrote in February. “Not being able to control my own body, provide for my baby or see hope that we would make it through. Despite my partner being a rock of support and positivity, I have found these last few months to be some of the loneliest of my life.”

On March 24, Stein announced that her daughter had arrived “a few weeks ago” and that the pair were living in the special care nursery within the Sydney Children’s Hospital. As such, she explained she would be taking some time away from the online world.

Few photos were posted to her Instagram account during the private time, but messages of love and support inundated her account, with many thanking her for talking about a side of pregnancy that isn’t often discussed.

In June, Stein shared an image of herself and her partner cradling their daughter. Alongside the photo she wrote, “We have been pinching ourselves all day, every day for the past twelve weeks since our beautiful daughter arrived. I always knew it wouldn’t be easy for me to become a mother, but I never thought these first precious months would be so hard for her”.

Stein continued, “We’re still living in hospital a few hours from home and taking each day as it comes, learning from and loving every moment with her. We are hoping to be back home in the coming weeks to settle in and enjoy our new chapter together”.

Finally, the new mum wrote, “I would be lying if I didn’t admit this is extremely tough, but so is she”.

We’re sending you all the love and best wishes, Jess!
