Paula Yates and Peaches Geldof: The tragedy that struck the same family twice.

For much of her early years, Tiger Lily Hutchence believed Bob Geldof was her father.

She was in fact the daughter of Geldof’s ex-wife Paula Yates and INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, who died when she was just 16 months old.

Tragically, three years later in 2000 her mother was found dead in her Notting Hill home from an accidental drug overdose.

At age four, Tiger Lily was an orphan.

She was – controversially – adopted by her mother’s ex-husband and brought up alongside her three half-sisters Fifi, Peaches and Pixie.

The four sisters grew up in the public eye and have ended up in very different places. Most notably, Peaches died of a drug overdose in 2014, the same way as her mother.

Here's what you should know about the Geldof sisters.

Tiger Lily Hutchence-Geldof.

Tiger Lily Hutchence was just 16 months old when her father, INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, passed away in November 1997.

By then, the world had already come to know the little girl who was often seen perched on the hip of her mother, Paula Yates.

But in the years since the legendary Australian performer ended his own life, the only daughter of the late INXS singer has largely managed to avoid the spotlight.

Now 26, Tiger Lily was taken in and eventually adopted by Bob Geldof after Yates' death in 2000. She was four at the time.

Although Hutchence's mother and sister fought to have Tiger Lily live with them in Australia, the young girl was adopted by Bob Geldof and it's believed that for much of her younger years she did not know that he was not her biological father.

In 2017, Tiger Lily was living in New York studying acting.

Peaches Geldof.

Born Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof on 13 March, 1989, Peaches Geldof was 25 years old when she died.

She had been a columnist, TV presenter and model.

The mother-of-two was found at their home by her husband Thomas Cohen after dying from a heroin overdose in 2014, just as her mother Paula Yates had when Peaches was 11.

Peaches' final Instagram post before she was found dead was a photo of her as a baby in her mother's arms: "Me and my mum," she captioned it.

"I remember the day my mother died, and it's still hard to talk about it," she told Elle in 2013. "I just blocked it out. I went to school the next day because my father's mentality was 'keep calm and carry on'. So we all went to school and tried to act as if nothing had happened. But it had happened. I didn't grieve. I didn't cry at her funeral. I couldn't express anything because I was just numb to it all. I didn't start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16."

Peaches, who went through a self-described rebellious teenage period, was well-recognised tabloid fodder throughout her life, but by the time she married Thomas in 2012 she was believed to have 'calmed down' and embraced domestic life.

She had experimented with drugs as a teen, but said she was "never that wild," the BBC reported.

Peaches and Thomas had two sons: Astala Dylan Willow Geldof-Cohen, born in April 2012, and Phaedra Bloom Forever Geldof-Cohen, born on 24 April, 2013 - on what would have been her mother's 54th birthday.

Peaches told Aga Living Magazine - in her final interview - that motherhood had been a "healing process".

"I’m not sure I’ve yet fully made peace with my childhood, but with my mum I have come to terms with everything. She had a really difficult time," she said.

"I was rootless and having the kids really anchored me in place and changed my life for the better... Before, I was just not at peace with myself about it because I was just traumatised.

Sadly, it seems like Peaches was far from peace.

At an inquest into her death, Thomas said his wife had struggled with drug addiction and she had been seeking treatment for her problem in the two years before she died. He said she was undergoing weekly drug tests and although she always told him they were clear, he told the inquest he had since come to believe she had been lying to him.

Months after her death, Bob Geldof said that he was often overcome with grief.

"I’m walking down the road and suddenly out of the blue there’s an awareness of her and I buckle," he said. "And I’ve got to be very careful because walking down the King’s Road there’s paps everywhere so I have to duck into a lane and blub for a while."

Younger sister Pixie said of her sister: "It's beautiful that someone can live a life so short and yet make such an impact. Things stop for a second with people like her. She changed worlds, both when she was alive and when she wasn't."

The youngest of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates' daughters, Pixie was born Little Pixie Geldof on September 17, 1990.

It was on Pixie's 10th birthday that her mother was found dead of an accidental heroin overdose.

After being followed by paparazzi throughout her teens on account of who her parents were, Pixie made a name for herself as a model and musician. She landed her first magazine cover in 2008, aged 18, and has been the face of advertising campaigns for brands including Levi's and Diesel.

In 2014, Pixie was scheduled to DJ at Coachella but cancelled due to the death of her sister Peaches.

Following the release of her solo album I'm Yours in 2016, Pixie addressed her attempt to move on after Peaches overdosed in 2014.

"I have a very lovely life. Except there will always be something missing. You don't want to be the kind of person who knows how this feels, but unfortunately, I am," she told Digital Spy.

"I realise now that everyone is just trying to live, as well as they can. And some people can't... There's no recovery from it. There's no therapy for it. I mean, there's no one day when it won't be bad."

It was her best friend, radio DJ Nick Grimshaw, who got her through the roughest period. He would distract her from her overwhelming grief in the days before Peaches' funeral with pizza and episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

In 2017, Pixie married model and musician George Barnett.

She has dedicated herself to supporting marine conservation and was an ambassador for the #PassOnPlastic campaign against single use plastics that pollute the ocean.

In October 2018, Pixie was part of a delegation that went to the United Nations in New York to present a petition launched by The Body Shop to end cosmetic animal testing worldwide.

Fifi Geldof.

Bob Geldof and Paula Yates' oldest child Fifi TrixiBelle Geldof was born on 31 March, 1983.

The 39-year-old has spent much of her life avoiding the spotlight that automatically comes with being part of such a famous family.

She refers to herself as the "unknown Geldof", and that's just the way she likes it.

She was just 17 when her mother died and became fiercely protective of half-sister Tiger Lily, 13 years her junior.

Fifi insisted that she and her youngest sister share a room for years and helped instill an aversion for fame in her.

In 2014, just months after the death of her sister Peaches, Fifi shared her story with depression on the Daily Mail to help break the stigma surrounding mental illness.

She recalled how she was diagnosed with clinical depression by a therapist at age 11, after her parents' bitter 1996 divorce.

"I woke up crying about everything and nothing. I remember thinking what the f**k is going on in my head. Why do I feel like this," she said. "I felt very confused as to what was going on in my mind. I thought I was going crazy. I was a generally happy child and all of a sudden I wasn’t and I didn’t know why.

"It’s confusing, and it makes you feel quite lost within yourself. It wasn’t a slow and gentle descent into depression. Something totally switches in your mind. I’m still trying to work out what’s wrong with me now."

After her mother died in 2000, Fifi turned to alcohol and drugs to numb her feelings.

Two years later Fifi hit the headlines for the first - and only - time, after she was found slumped on a London street after a night out.

"I went out on a massive bender," Fifi recalled. "I went to the Hard Rock Café and probably drank about 20 Long Island iced teas."

"I was with a friend. It was the day before a Mardi Gras march and the police were checking routes. That’s when they found us. Two girls passed out in a pool of their own vomit. There was no arrest. I was put into the cells overnight to sober up."

This provided Fifi with the reality check she needed and she's been living out of the spotlight ever since.

She married her long-time partner Andrew Robertson in 2015 and describes herself on Instagram as a "makeup artist and enthusiast of dogs".
