No one can confirm that Gilmore Girls is coming back, but they won't deny it either.

It’s not over till it’s over.

Oh my God this is so exciting I can’t even verbalise my thoughts but I’ll try really hard to honour the fast-talking, over-articulated heroines of the totally addictive and endlessly re-watchable Gilmore Girls though maybe not in the one unbroken sentence.

Breathe. Why? Because they’re coming back!

That’s right. Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, Stars Hollow’s finest, are reportedly being brought back to life by Netflix, which has also kindly revived other old faves including Full House and Arrested Development.

Our favourite mother and daughter duo. Ever.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has been in negotiations with Netflix to create four 90-minute mini-movies, which would catch up with Rory and Lorelai in present time.

Where are they now? Is Rory married? Did she become the hard-hitting journalist we always knew she could be? Did Lorelei end up with Luke? Will Sookie make an appearance?! What about Lane? What about Lorelai’s mum? Is she now a widow? Oh God, so many questions.

No one has confirmed or denied the news, but Mum Lauren Graham took to Twitter to, well, neither confirm nor deny it.

However, the Hollywood Reporter reckons it’s starting production next year.

I’ll get the popcorn, you order Chinese. We’ll probably need a pizza. And some ice-cream, too.

There are some who say we should let sleeping dogs lie. These people would point to the Sex and the City movies as evidence, and they would be right. But in this case, we didn’t get a proper ending. The Gilmore Girls deserves a chance to wrap things up.

Tenuously related piece of trivia: did you ever notice that the mother in Dirty Dancing is played by Kelly Bishop — Lorelai’s mum in Gilmore Girls?

What do you think? Are you excited about Gilmore Girls returning?
