The forgotten TV shows you need to watch immediately, according to Mamamia readers.

Laura Brodnik and Rosie Waterland pride themselves on being across pretty much every show currently airing both here and in the US.

However, it is time for them to accept that they just can’t watch everything and maintain the sleep levels required for daily life domination.

So they asked the super switched-on `podcast listeners to ring in with their best pitches for what we should watch in 2017.

They were soon inundated with voice mails that held more comedic value than most of the shows recommended.

Listen to the top callers on this very special Convince Us To Watch episode of The Binge.

The first caller recommended the hosts watch the feelgood 80s classic The Golden Girls.

“Rosie Waterland, it’s Naomi again, telling you to watch The Golden Girls. Don’t make me use Twitter… whatever the hell that is. You NEED to watch the show,” she said.

The Binge host Laura Brodnik agreed the show was a kind of trendsetter for future female-driven series.

“It was kind of our first big show about female friendship – before Sex and The City, before Younger. I think every show kind of builds on that,” she said.

The next recommendation came from Elena who admitted it was the second time she'd called as even she "wouldn't have listened" to her first pitch.

"Hi, I'm doing my pitch again from last night because even I wouldn't have even listened to me. I'm Elena from Brisbane and I'm recommending Catfish and Teen Mom to Rosie and Laura," she said.

"I'm even more obsessed with Teen Mom. The girls from series one and two have become the most popular with series three being cancelled."

"With sex tapes to follow, jail time, losing custody, getting married, having more children, getting divorced, placing their child for adoption, having twins, having a child with a disability, it's the most drama-filled reality show I've ever seen."

The mention of the series caused both Rosie and Laura to fall into a debate about whether the show was exploitative.

Laura eventually ended the argument by saying teen pregnancy levels had been positively affected by the series.

"The teen pregnancy rates across America significantly dropped after it aired," Laura said.

The final recommendation came from a caller who said the hosts should give the crime series Animal Kingdom a red hot go.

"Hi, my name is Belinda. I wanted to provide a recommendation for Animal Kingdom that is on Netflix at the moment. It is the American version or adapted version of Animal Kingdom the Australian movie," she said.

"That was an amazing movie from a few years ago. Ellen Barkin plays the matriarch and she is amazing."

Both Laura and Rosie agreed the show had been previously recommended but neither had prioritised it into their viewing schedule.

"A lot of my friends that I have to watch it because it takes the general idea of the movie but then takes its own spin on it," Laura said.
