'Shower Beer' is officially a thing and 2017 is already kicking 2016's butt.

Thanks to some ingenious designing from the people who brought us IKEA, 2017 is officially set to be the year of the shower beer. Take that, 2016, you dirty rotten scoundrel.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of the shower beer, it is, as the name would suggest, the act of drinking an ice cold beer in a steaming hot shower. It’s an excellent way to prepare for a night out or unwind after a long day, or if things are really tough (no judgement), start the morning.

Simply, if you haven’t tried it, you haven’t lived.

For years, though, the problem with the shower beer has been the unhappy meeting point of the hot, hot shower and the cold, cold beer, and the weird warmish mess that is born after about 30 seconds together.

But thanks to the newly announced Shower Beer from Swedish design firm, Snask, all that has changed.

For starters, the size of the Shower Beer's pale ale is a compact 18 centilitres (around half the size of a Peroni), something Snask says was all part of the design plan.

"A sweet but strong pale ale in a 18 cl small bottle meant to gulp in three sips while standing in the shower getting ready for the night," the team explained via their website.

"We wanted an idea, a concept, something bigger than just the actual beer. Something that could kickstart the night and act as your power up while fixing your hair and listening to "Dressed For Success" on repeat."

And when they say strong, they're not lying. Conveniently - or perhaps dangerously depending on how you look at it - with an alcohol reading of 10 per cent, the Shower Beer still well and truly does it's job when compared to a regular fridge beer. In fact, it's the strength of nearly two normal sized beers, so drink at your own caution.

Sadly, the first batch of Shower Beer flew off shelves within days of being released, and the second batch is now being brewed.

As to if and when it lands in Australia, we're still not sure... but a girl can dream, right?
