They thought he was a 'creepy' stalker. He was actually saving Chrissy Teigen's life.

Traffic in New York City is humdrum background music until it’s right upon you and you’re yelling at a taxi driver, fearing for your life, wondering where on earth the cars come from.

This was the case for model and pregnant mum Chrissy Teigen this week as she attempted to cross the street.

As Teigen, 32, stepped down off the curb, a man was photographed reaching for her, a panicked expression on his face.

The photograph went viral and the internet, of course, was quick to jump to (incorrect) conclusions.

He was a wild fan. A stalker. A “creeper”, even. He wouldn’t allow her privacy. She was just crossing the street for goodness sake, LEAVE HER BE… These were the resounding messages from fans on social media.

But Teigen, like the queen she is, has addressed the haters and set the record straight: The man was saving her, not pestering her.

"He actually saved me from getting run over by a cyclist. I should have looked before stepping out!" she posted to social media.

And just like that, the man is forgiven and Teigen - for the umpteenth time - proves she is unequivocally one of us.

She and singer John Legend announced are expecting a second child, a boy, in June. In the meantime, she's taking more care checking the street for oncoming traffic before crossing the road.
