The days are getting lighter and the flowers are starting to spring into action. Yep, winter is finally ending and the warmer months are within our reach. September is the perfect time to trawl through the cupboards, clear the clutter and start things a fresh through a little bit of Spring Cleaning.

This September Cancer Council NSW is encouraging individuals to spring clean for a good cause by selling your preloved possessions through an online sale, car-boot sale, vintage market, or a good old fashion garage sale and donating some or all of the proceeds to help fight cancer.

Why Sell It For Cancer? Sadly, cancer is a disease which doesn’t discriminate. Affecting one in two individuals by the age of 85, we all know someone who has been through cancer – it could be you, your mother, your brother or your best friend. Turning your old stuff into someone else’s treasures is a fantastic way for individuals to make a personal difference in beating cancer.

Model, actress, designer and environmentalist Annalise Braakensiek knows all too well the affects of cancer after sadly losing her Father and Aunty to the deadly disease.

Now extremely passionate about fundraising to fight cancer, Annalise, a Cancer Council NSW Ambassador is encouraging individuals to sign up and sell it for cancer this September. To show her dedication to the cause, Annalise has chosen to donate 25 per cent of her online jewellery sales from her signature jewellery collection “Annalise” to Cancer Council NSW throughout September.

“Like many Australians I have personally been touched by cancer after sadly losing my darling father and Aunty. I am passionate about doing everything I can to help stop this deadly disease from taking any more of my loved ones.

Selling your stuff is easy, so dust off your unwanted treasures and get inspired! Whether it’s your vintage labels, that designer gown you’ll never wear again, the kids old toys or even your wedding dress which is gathering dust in the cupboard – sell it how and when you like in the month of September.

Funds raised will go toward vital cancer research, prevention, information and support services like the Cancer Council Helpline (13 11 20).

As the largest non-government funder of cancer research in NSW, Cancer Council NSW is able to drive remarkable discoveries. While the number of people diagnosed with cancer has crept up over the past 10 years, the number of people dying from cancer has fallen by 13 per cent.

These improvements could not have been made without the breakthroughs made by cancer research.
