Silence is a girl's loudest cry.

by NATASCHA MOY

When the world comes together to stand as one we know it is time to sit up and pay attention. For years we have been aware of the incredible atrocities that have affected women of all ages around the world and for many of us we have remained silent. Not because we were not interested but because we did not know how to help. Now One Billion Rising has given us a voice, to be inspired watch this video:

Founder Eve Ensler (author of The Vagina Monologues), has provided us with an incredibly loud voice and she has garnered support around the world from 190 countries who will all stand up, walk out and dance on the 14th of Feb 2013. Valentine’s Day will become synonymous with love not only for one another but also for the women, girls, mothers and grandmothers in the world and for the men who love them.

Women weave the fabric of society. When we “break” a woman’s self esteem, we affect her ability to raise the next generation and build a firm foundation of love and safety. With child rape, female circumcision, guerilla warfare rape, domestic violence, human trafficking, financial control, intimidation and fear aimed at the women all over the world, we are unable to secure the future of healthy, happy future generations.

The Campaign has garnered so much support around the world that stars like Anne Hathaway are onboard, as well as politicians around the world.

So on the 14th of February we would like you to stand up with Girlpower Goddess and White Ribbon in Sydney Australia and Dance. I started Girlpower Goddess to empower women in business and to get them to embark on self-love and life balance. It is with such joy that I now get to encourage our great country to join this massive initiative and dance, as a victim of domestic violence at the hands of a cruel stepfather when I was growing up I know all too well the fear and terror as well as loneliness that comes from regular intimidation and violence.

So I am going to stand up for myself, for my family, for my friends and for all the women in the world who do not have a voice. I am going to Dance for an hour outside the St Mary’s cathedral and I am going to celebrate survival. I hope you will dance with me too.
