Sharon Edwards' three sons pay tribute to her as their dad is charged with murder.

The three adult sons of suspected murder victim Sharon Edwards say they are coming to terms with the latest development in her case as their father is extradited to NSW to be charged.

“It’s something that no family should ever have to go through,” Ms Edwards’ family – including her sons Zac, Josh and Eli – said in a statement to AAP.

“We miss (Sharon) dearly. She was such a beautiful and loving person. We are working with the police to help them with their investigation.”

Ms Edwards, 55, was last seen alive by her husband at their home in Lawrence, north of Grafton, in March 2015, according to police.

Two weeks after her disappearance, Edwards appeared on television and issued an impassioned plea for information on his wife's whereabouts.

The teacher's body has never been recovered but police had treated her disappearance as a homicide.

"We are satisfied that an altercation has taken place that has led to the death of Mrs Edwards," Detective Inspector Darren Jameson told reporters.

Police arrested Edwards at a home in Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, on Tuesday.
