A 104-year-old woman shares her secret to long life. And it's not what we expected.

Just a reminder: Mamamia do not purport to offer medical advice.

If you reach 104, it would be easy for others to assume  you’dbeen living a fairly healthy life, staying away from vices, drinking herbal tea and guzzling chia seeds and hummus.

But that’s certainly not the case for this 104 year old.

She says she has one doctor to thank for her longevity.

Dr Pepper.

Yep. Elizabeth Sullivan of Texas knocks back three cans a day of the stuff.

Sullivan says she’s been sculling the soft drink, ever since she fell in love with it back in the sixties.

“Every doctor that sees me says they’ll kill you, but they die and I don’t. So there must be a mistake somewhere,” she said.

The dedicated Dr Pepper fan was honoured by the company for her 104th birthday, with a cake shaped like the drink and gift basket.

Chief executive of Dr Pepper, Larry Young, personally delivered the gifts to Ms Sullivan, including cases of 70s-style glass bottles, which was the original packaging when she started buying the drink.
