real life

Sarah Murdoch is on the cover of Vogue and the reason why is quite special.

The supermodel mum-of-three has pulled on her pointe shoes for a good cause.

Sarah Murdoch first graced the cover of Vogue in 1993 at just 19. Today, the 42-year-old model and mother has appeared in her 11th Vogue cover.

Yes. Eleven. Vogue. Covers.

We’re particularly obsessed with this cover because it has a ballet theme. Have a look:

Sarah is the Deputy Chair of The Australian ballet and has been obsessed with ballet since the age of 6. Sarah danced 7 days a week and went to a performing arts school with dreams of becoming a professional ballet dancer before she was swept into the world of modelling.

Sarah's passion now is to bring the magic of dance to children who could otherwise not access it or afford it, through a program called Out There for Kids.

Sarah told the Daily Telegraph that ballet is "an elite art from, but I never want the company to feel elite. I don’t want people to not feel good enough, or feel that they can’t afford it. If you can’t get kids to the ballet, we will take it to them. All the sparkles, and sequins, and dancers doing these incredible leaps and turns — it’s quite a magical thing for a child.”

So Sarah decided to go on the cover of Vogue in a pair of pretty pink pointe shoes to promote the program. The new issue of Vogue Australia is out today.
