Australian model Samantha Harris kept an incredible secret for two and a half years.

Rumours that model Samantha Harris had married her fiance Luke Hunt in secret have been flying for months. But the 26-year-old has finally put them to bed, telling Marie Claire the pair have actually been married for a lot longer.

About two and a half years longer, in fact.

“It was more like a family gathering or a Christmas dinner, full of love and support,” the David Jones ambassador said of the low-key wedding, explaining that no photos of the occasion were ever shared to social media “out of respect” for what was going on in the couple’s lives at the time.

Hunt was jailed in May 2014 after being sentenced to jail over the 2012 death of 78-year-old grandfather Kenneth Lay.

Lay died when the car he was travelling collided with Harris’ and Hunt’s in the northern Sydney suburb of Narweena, with Hunt being found guilty of dangerous driving and travelling at 95 km per hour in a 60 zone. Harris was in the car with Hunt at the time.

Harris said her and Hunt kept the news of their marriage a secret ‘out of respect’ for the family of Kenneth Lay.

But having served two of his four-year sentence, Hunt was released earlier in 2016, which is when the marriage rumours began to swirl.

Not bothering to correct them, the pair has slowly been readjusting to being back together and life as a newly married couple.

“We’re just adjusting and taking it slowly, one day at a time,” Harris told The Daily Telegraph in September.

“We’re getting back into the swing of things again, training together and cooking meals – he’s a great cook,” the indigenous model said before adding that conversations about their long-term future were already underway.

“I love kids and I do want them in the future, yes with him, but not tomorrow.”

The Dancing with the Stars star also shared that she and her husband celebrated their honeymoon shortly after Hunt was released from prison, using the money he earned in prison to pay for it

They stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney and dined at Tetsuya’s Restaurant.

“I was in shock,” Harris said of it all. “It was like the honeymoon we never had.”

Over the weekend, Harris shared an image of herself and Hunt to Instagram, referring to him as her “hubby” for the first time.
