“It definitely felt like they all wanted me to fail.”

News of Sam Frost and Rove McManus’s removal from the breakfast slot of Sydney’s 2DAYFM may come as a surprise but the 27-year-old has been open about her struggles in the role for months.

The intensely competitive radio slot was Sam’s first radio job, but ever since its launch in November 2015, the pair have faced some brutal criticism.

Listen to Sam explain her feelings to Mia in this conversation from their No Filter podcast.

Today it was announced the pair will be be moving to a lower-profile evening slot, to be replaced by comedians Em Rusciano and Harley Breen from January 23.

But it was only last October when the former Bachelorette told Mia Freedman she felt as though people were anticipating her demise.

“To have a job on breakfast radio in Sydney, when everyone is watching you, and wanting you to fail,” she said.

When Mia asked why she felt that way the radio host explained it was simply a matter of her experience.

“I guess that’s all I really saw,” Frost said.

Frost shared her own frustrations with how quickly she landed the role after her hosting duties of The Bachelorette had wrapped up.

“I was really mindful, I didn’t want to start the show straight after The Bachelorette. I just wanted time to breathe for a second but it just worked that way anyway,” she said.

“I just felt I was so vulnerable at that time and quite exposed.”

The radio host explained how it was criticism from her own industry that continued to draw her focus.

“The media were so harsh and that’s all you can see when you’re in that mind frame,” she said.
