The interview that will change your mind about Roxy Jacenko.

Your husband is in jail. You’ve got two little kids who only have you to look after them. And you’ve just found a lump on your breast that is the size of a mandarin.

For any normal person, this would usually cause people to react to you with sympathy, compassion and care.

But when Roxy Jacenko’s life blew up last year, quite the opposite thing happened to her.

The 36-year-old business woman, author, reality TV star and owner of  Sweaty Betty PR, joined Mia Freedman this week on the latest episode of No Filter, to explain what was really going on behind those famous Instagram posts during that harrowing time.

And boy, did she blow some misconceptions out of the water.

Listen: The interview that will change your mind about Roxy Jacenko.

There’s a lot more to Roxy Jacenko than meets the eye and during this interview she showed off a side that was funny, kind and whip-smart.

Not that we should have to clarify that the the woman who founded and runs a successful empire is smart, but history tells us otherwise.

While at Mamamia HQ, Roxy took part in a searingly honest interview and talked about everything from taking her son to see her husband in jail, her famous 60 Minutes segment and her plastic surgery procedures.

“I looked at that 60 Minutes interview and I was like…’I may have overdone it…wow maybe ease off that…” she told Mia Freedman when she asked about the size of her lips.

The last year has been a rollercoaster ride for Roxy. Her husband, Oliver Curtis, was sentenced to two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading in June.

“I remember before the sentencing I sat down and cried and I was like ‘what the f*ck has my life become? How am I even in this frickin position? Yeah sure, I ask everything about everything," she said.

"But if you ask someone and they say to you ‘no I didn’t do it,’ how many times can you ask them the same question?”

As if seeing her husband imprisoned was not enough to turn her world upside down, Roxy was exfoliating in the shower one night and found a lump on her breast.

“Anyone who has said stress has nothing to do with cancer - I disagree. There was no way I would have ended up with breast cancer three months after….I don’t think I would have," she said.

She was advised to have a mastectomy, but because she was the sole carer at home, she couldn’t go through with it.

“If I had a mastectomy - I couldn’t even pick up the children - I was on my own. I have a nanny, she comes at 7.30pm and leaves at 5.30pm.”

“As a mother, if you have children you have an obligation. I would forgo my own happiness for my childrens happiness. If I had a choice, I probably would have done things very differently...I wouldn’t have had children until this situation was sorted out because it’s not right” she told Mia Freedman.
