Bizarre breaking news: Two water buffalo running down the streets of a major Australian city.

Two water buffalo were pictured running loose down King St in Newtown this morning.

Yes, that’s King St. In Newtown. In Sydney. In NSW.

The water buffalo escaped from the set of a commercial they were filming nearby.

Abril Felman, a University of Sydney student, was walking down King St when she took the above photos.

“I saw two water buffalo running down King St,” she said. “The road was not blocked off and there was a jeep with filming gear rigged up following it and honking at it.”

So… Yeah. Just an average day in Sydney then…

At the time of publishing, there were reports the buffalo had been cornered by firefighters and were close to being captured.

UPDATE: It is being reported that the buffalo were captured after being cornered in somebody’s front yard on Carillon Ave, not far from Sydney University.
