Fluff: The least shocking celebrity split ever.

No Blurred Lines here: singer Robin Thicke and his wife of 8 years, actress Paula Patton, have confirmed that they’ve split up.

The famous pair released a typically sweet Hollywood statement to explain their break-up: “We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.”

36-year-old Thicke has been spotted getting cosy/sleazy with several unidentified young bombshells over the past few months. Which is such a shame… because apart from his catchy sexist tune Blurred Lines, his public make-out session with Parisian models in underground French nightclubs, that infamous twerking incident with young Miley Cyrus at the VMAs, and his general slimey demeanour… he seems like such a catch.

Thicke and Patton, 38, met 22 years ago. They were childhood and high school sweethearts, they grew up together, and married on 11th June, 2005. They welcomed a baby boy into the world in 2010 – Julian Fuego Thicke, he’s now three years old. We’re not sure who will have custody.

Thicke and Patton appeared together on the Grammys red carpet on January 26th of this year, despite the many cheating rumours.

If you remember, Thicke claims he wrote those rapey-sounding lyrics in Blurred Lines about his wife:

“I don’t think people got it. I wrote it about my wife … she’s my good girl,” he said in response to the controversy about the song. “And I know she wants it because we’ve been together for 20 years.”

Turns out, maybe she didn’t want it after all.
