Rihanna Reality TV. WTF?

Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, call your agents! Last summer, Rihanna moved into the fashion competition game, debuting her own, style-centric reality TV show, Styled to Rockon the British cable channel Sky Living.  Now she's taking the project to the U.S., where she'll executive produce and star in an American version of the show for the Style Network in 2013.
And yes, the series bears a lot of similarities to Project Runway. Like that show, it will start with a nationwide search for up-and-coming designers, twelve of whom will compete in weekly challenges, with one eliminated each week. Rihanna's twist is that designers will create an outfit for an A-list celebrity each week, and said star will choose which designer's ensemble wins.

Rihanna certainly is a style icon, as this promo for the U.S. version of the show calls her. Naming her "the biggest trendsetter in the world" might be stretching it a bit, but why quibble? The fact is, she's already created her own fashion line, following in the footsteps of singers like Victoria Beckham, Gwen Stefani and Jessica Simpson. Given her tremendous popularity right now (her album, Unapologetic just debuted at the top of the Billboard charts), she certainly has the momentum to take the next step, and carry her own TV show.

One caveat: The British Styled to Rock was not what you'd call a  ratings bonanza.
