FLUFF: The award for best-ever red carpet hair goes to...

1. It was reportedly snowing on the BAFTAs red carpet, but that didn’t stop the stars from stepping out in bare-shouldered, low-backed style – although some of them looked on the verge of hypothermia. Beauty is pain.

Jennifer Lawrence maintained a suitably British stiff upper lift, despite the train of her bejewelled dress getting drenched as she walked through the drizzle. She threw a stylish black long-line blazer over the top of her frock, to protect herself from the elements.

Helen Mirren with fairy floss hair. Win.

Anne Hathaway wore a hip, studded sleek Burberry gown – which contrasted with her edgy crop, and messy bangs. Is it just us, or does Anne Hathaway’s hair look different at every red carpet event? The girl’s clearly got a resourceful stylist on her side.

But as far as the Mamamia team is concerned, the best red carpet moment belongs to Helen Mirren, who showed off her new fairy floss hair. Her pale pink pixie cut looked stylish and sophisticated.  She told reporters at the event, “I saw it on America’s Next Top Model, so I decided to have a go.” Mirren was beaming and having a blast on the red carpet, throwing in a few Top Model twirls for good measure.

Mirren also reportedly said that she dyed her hair to match her Nicholas Oakwell Couture gown. Her grey-coloured gown. She’s fashionable and funny.

What we’re taking from this, is that pink rinse is the new blue rinse.

3. The Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles have also kicked off, bringing a slew of other red carpet moments for us to ogle.

Nominated artists include Carly Rae Jepsen for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for the insanely catchy, you-know-you-had-it-on-repeat Call Me Maybe. She rocked on the red carpet up in a dominatrix-esque black sheath dress, looking far sexier than one might expect given her tweeny pop image.

Gotye won 3 Grammys!

Australia’s own Gotye won three Grammys, for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. The third? Gotye won the big one: Record of the Year, for his duet with Kimbra, Somebody That I Used To Know. Too slow America; Australia already honoured that song in our Triple J Hottest 100 last year. Other nominated tracks included The Black Keys’ Lonely Boy, Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger, Fun’s We Are Young, Frank Ocean’s Thinkin About You, and Taylor Swift’s Somebody That I Used To Know.
