I'm not defending Josh but I think this level of media scrutiny is a little ridiculous. The fact remains, he was a very young teenager when these crimes were committed. Sexual problems and deviousness at that age do not necessarily translate into adulthood. If he had been charged and sentenced then he would most likely be out in society now anyway.

The solution here is to get Josh the help he deserved back when he was younger and to remove this from the media spotlight. Those abused and Josh's young children deserve better than so much attention on this issue.

I don't think these people can afford/think to use contraception generally. People are going to have sex and, as we know, without contraception that will lead to babies.

Excellent article! "Cry me a fucking river" is the exact sentiment I felt when people came out in support of Lazarus. Now, I do think, if he has been reformed by his jail time, then him coming out to say to fellow men that rape is wrong and how he ruined the victim's (NOT HIS) life then that could be valuable. This should not, however, be a paid position or anything of the like! Community service while on parole maybe?

One thing is for sure, we need more education surrounding the rights of women and the harm sexual assault has on their lives. We do not need to be teaching women that this is their fault or victim blaming here!

Just wanted to let you know that it actually costs taxpayers in the US more to execute a prisoner than it does to house them in prison for the rest of their lives. This is due to lengthy appeals processes and subsequent legal costs. Appeals are obviously important in a modern day justice system.

Basically, taxpayer financial burden is not a reason to reintroduce the death penalty.

So families can make the choice for a patient even if they're not registered as an organ donor? I wasn't aware of that...
It's still interesting that other countries with opt out systems have much higher donation rates than we do in Australia.

I was under the impression that if a patient hasn't agreed to be an organ donor prior to death then they cannot be donors? Or do next of kin have the right to make that choice for them?
Either way, I totally agree that well educated medical staff is vital.

Why not make the organ donor status the default and require people to opt out if they don't want to donate? I bet a lot of people aren't donors simply out of confusion about how to sign up and laziness. A majority of Australians would surely be happy to help their fellow citizens in death.
