Change the date for Australia Day and keep 26 Jan as the day we acknowledge invasion, a day of reflection, a day of mourning, a day of education, a day we are all prepared to hear stories and understand the foundation of our modern continent, and the intergenerational trauma this has created for victim and perpetrator. My 13 year old was gutted that he left, but my take was that he wasn’t there from day one, and viewers had a greater emotional connection with the originals. Producers didn’t do him any favours with that and he commented on his first day that it felt like he’d stepped into a cult, which I can fully appreciate, and energetically he felt a little detached from the original group.
