It’s so good to know I am not alone in remembering being in the womb. I too have autism.
I remember it being warm and dark, sometimes it would be a little brighter with a red hue but it was mostly dark and safe and cosy. I recall muted sounds. I remember the shock of being born and the sudden severe blinding bright lights and loud noises which was extremely distressing.
I clearly remember events from infancy. Mainly events where there was sensory discomfort for me, like when my parents tucked me in in my cot and pinned an awful scratchy blanket over me. Or when I was forced to wear a lacy dress as a toddler which made me itch all over and I was desperate to tear it off.
I would love to hear if anyone else with autism has similar very early memories.
