I love this writer. She makes me snort out loud. Very sardonically funny and I’m here for whatever Shannen has to say about the latest frenzied menty b housing topics. No, this is not her Mum.

If your kids attend private schools, it’s closer to TWO MONTHS they have off ie; last year my kids went on leave early December and the year 9 one doesn’t go back next Tuesday or Wednesday, no she goes back next FRIDAY. As you do. Thank god for working from home arrangements now- one of the only positive, flexible boons for working parents though trying to WFH with kids on holidays in my house consists of ‘Go on the internet as much as want! Watch Netflix, I’m trying to work!’

Using the same stats, if you’re with the kids 100% of the time and 75% miserable, consumed by a bad marriage and relationship, that roughly leaves only 25% of good quality time with your children. I had parents who stayed together for the sake of the children and my 3 siblings and I all wish they hadn’t. They didn’t fight or argue in front of us but their icy, cold unhappiness definitely pervaded the rest of the house and our lives. There’s no such thing as a ‘part time’ mum- you’re a mum all of the time. 50/50 is a part of the ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ mentality and my children get to spend quality time with both parents. We couldn’t make our marriage work but we sure as hell make the time spent with our children count and they know they’re loved 100%.
